I’ve always loved hosting friends, and I’ve always wondered, how do I make it a bigger thing, while still keeping it sophisticated and intimate. And so, about a couple months ago Maile called me with an idea: “Let’s launch an event series at The Miami Beach Edition” I guess it was meant to be.
Fun fact and a complete circle moment about Maile and I, back when I started my career in the marketing world, Maile and I worked together at a small agency in the heart of Wynwood called The Workshop. I used to snap content and run social media accounts for bars and restaurants in Miami, while Maile spearheaded the PR department. Now, this was about….7-8 years ago? Gosh, time flies.
The Miami Beach Edition was one of our clients and we used to spend a lot of time on property doing our thing. You’d frequently find me snapping pictures of delish dishes during the most perfect sunset light at Market, while Maile would be running around making sure cultural moments and programming were getting the right PR coverage.
Before there was the Miami Beach Edition, there was The Seville Hotel, which opened in 1955. The Seville was known for its glamorous bars, the Castanet Lounge and Matador Supper Club, where you’d find celebrities like Joan Crawford, Jackie Gleason, and the Rat Pack. Ahhh….to be a fly on that wall.
Today, Ian Schrager’s EDITION keeps the best details from the old Seville, including it’s fin-shaped diving board, the glowing red clock on the building’s facade, and the basement club inspired by the infamous Studio 54.
Introducing “The NAT Cap” an event series in partnership with The Miami Beach Edition. Each month, I invite my friends, tastemakers, colleagues, creatives and industry leaders and work closely with brand partners to create classic cocktails and enjoy good conversation and tunes. The best part? I get to do it every month.
This past month, I took it back to our college days and invited friends to join me at Basement at The Miami Beach Edition. The club, which is secretly located in the actual basement of the Miami Beach Edition, consists of disco themed bowling lanes and an ice skating rink. Grey Goose kept the drinks flowing all night long with tunes by local DJ, Sachi Sounds.
I’m currently working on what summer will look like at The Nat Cap and would love to extend an invite to anyone who has subscribed to my newsletter. Cheers to more memories in the Magic City!

Naty P
